The Miniature Buffet coach was designed to provide quick snacks, being staffed by only one attendant in service. The coach seats 44 passengers at tables, and also has bench seats opposite the serving area.
1853 arrived on the SVR in March 1983 1989 from InvernessBounds Green Carriage Depot (London) via Holyhead, having been purchased by [[Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC|SVR(H)]]<ref>SVR News 129</ref>. It is used in Set C, the BR Crimson & Cream running set, and is owned by the [[The SVR (BR) Buffet Car Fund|SVR (BR) Buffet Car Fund]].
