It arrived on the SVR in 1968 and although still in unrestored condition, commonly referred to as a 'Black Fivesaw service during that year's August Bank Holiday weekend. It was also one of the very last steam locomotives to be used by BR, ending its working life at Lostock Hall Shed, Preston, from where it worked the return portion of the 'Fifteen Guinea Special', carriages in the last steam passenger service run first train hauled by British Railways[[3205]] on opening day in May 1970.
