Built in 1914 to Diagram V16, Lot 742, 93045 was one of over 2,000 260 10-ton MINK A goods vans built to that diagram. As built, V16 was non-vac fitted, with DCIII brakes, GWR self-contained buffers, and bonnets (rather than shutters or louvres) covering the end ventilators.<ref name=Atkins>[[Bibliography#Other References|Atkins, Beard & Tourret (2013)]] pp. 34, 379.</ref> It later carried Internal User number I/U 064722.<ref Name = "Survey">Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey</ref>

In preservation, 93045 arrived at the National Waterways Museum in July 1990.<ref Name = "Survey" /> It was put up for sale in 2008 after the owner was asked to remove it, and was acquired by [[The GWR 813 Preservation Fund]] in 1991,<ref>GWR813.org</ref> moving to the SVR on 31 August 2008.It was in good condition on arrival, requiring only two floor planks to be fitted and a re-paint to match existing MINK A 93016<ref Name = "Survey" /><ref>SVR News 175</ref>
