Summary

A steam omnibus at Bridgnorth in November 1904. From the Sellick collection, hosted online by the National Railway Museum. Original source.
Unusually for a steam vehicle, these buses were powered not by coal, but by paraffin, hence the upholstered driver's seat and the absence of a chimney or smokebox. What appears to be a radiator at the front was actually a condenser.
The man second from right has been identified as Joseph Gooderidge. Joseph's father, John Gooderidge, was the guard on the first train into Bridgnorth when the line opened in 1862.[1]
