English: LMS Stanier Jubilee Class 5690 "Leander" at Kidderminster Town Station The Severn Valley Railway was extended from Bewdley to Kidderminster Town Station in the summer of 1984. Stanier's Jubilee class locomotive 5690 "Leander" was built for the London Midland & Scottish Railway at Crewe in March 1936 and is now preserved. In 1984 she was running on the Severn Valley Railway and is pictured here at the new Kidderminster Town Station in October 1984. The locomotive is now based at the East Lancashire Railway. She was named after HMS Leander, which in turn was named after the Greek hero of that name. |
